Almost anyone who knows me or is significantly close to me knows, my dream is to live in the city. (New York City, that is.) I am in love with Manhattan & i am mesmerized by it. i could day dream about it all day. (no, really. I could.) My boyfriend Ryan &a I just went on a weekend trip there for Labor day with another couple we are close with. (Allison & Rob) It was my friend Allisons first time ever being to the city. i could not believe she's never been! but I had the honor of showing her all over from soho canal st, 5th avenue all the way down to the boroughs of brooklyn, where you can get some deli cold cuts you could never find here in Virginia. everytime i go there i swear i walk more in my life then i ever have. it's worth it although, even if it feels like my heart is in my feet from them throbing at the end of the night. Anyways, enough ranting about that & let's talk more about why I am in love with NY. even though New York doesnt need reasoning as to why it's one of the greatest cities i want to share why it has my heart. Since i was a little girl we had our annual trips to visit my family in the bronx (co-op city) & my parents would always make sure to take us to the city to see the typical tourist areas. (time square, broadway etc.) quite honestly i HATE time square. You become a zombie while there, as you walk behind someone who has no clue where they are going. or who stops in the middle of the crosswalk to take a picture, holding up traffic as you hear the taxi's blowing their horns waiting to turn. but anyways, I love New York because it has something for everyone. whether you are there to taste some of the best restaurants, to get fashion inspiration & shop at boutiques that can only be found in the city, or some one who just comes to see what all the talk is about & you want to sight see at the top of the rock or at the empire state builing. Anyone who says they can't find anything to do in Ny clearly needs to be checked into a mental institue. (just kidding..) this last visit we stayed in a hotel in long island city & like everyone who goes to a hotel anywhere the first thing you do is scope out the room & then walk to the window & hope you have more then a view of a brick wall that looks straight down to cement. when i pulled open the curtains my eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store (i know, every one says that. but, its true.) the view was breath taking. (imagining it right now makes my eyes watery.) call me crazy but i'm serious. we had the most beautiful view of Manhattan. I realized that it's not something you only see in movies. we had the perfect view of the brooklyn bridge, the chrysler building & all the other breath taking sky scrapers of New York. the empire state building was beaming with its lights of red, white, & blue. which goes dim at 2 O'clock in the morning. (i know because i was zoned out just taking in the beautiful scenery & the lights went off.) & then i realized it was time for me to go to sleep. the very next day i woke up &went to the window to make sure i wasn't dreaming. & of course i wasn't let down the beautiful view was still there. my boyfriend & our friends joked me because i literally stood there for about 15 minutes & just took it all in. Ny puts me at peace. i feel so relaxed when i just stare at the skyline & let my imagination run wild. it gives me the motivation to keep chasing my dreams. When i am in New York i forget about everything, all my worries go away. Everything feels right. It's where i know i belong & where i'm destined to be. you're probably thinking "yeah, right. how do you know you belong somewhere?" I just do. it feels right when i'm there & feel like i've left a part of me when i'm gone. I have been to New Yok numerous times & everytime, feels like the first time the city never ceases to amaze me. I will do all that it takes to make my way there & paint the town with my name & i WILL do just that. ( below are pictures of the view from our hotel room.) XO, enjoy!
